Doesn’t really fit the criteria perfectly, but my experience with attempting to “remaster” the Smiths/Morrissey albums is pretty much limited to my attempt to rework The Smiths compilation albums they put out as an active band to avoid a bunch of duplicate songs / redundancies in my playlists.
Rather than playing the two mid-stream compilation albums as released with a combination of singles, b-sides, and previously released stuff, I assembled those albums on my playlists by limiting them to the never appeared on an album before stuff (minus the instrumentals and cover), as follows, which makes for two really great stand alone albums IMO:
Hateful of Hollow:
How Soon Is Now?
Handsome Devil
Accept Yourself
Back to the Old House
William it was really nothing
Heaven Knows I’m miserable now
Girl Afraid
These Things Take Time
This Night has opened my eyes
Please Please Please let me get what I want
The World Won’t Listen/Louder than Bombs:
Panic
Ask
London
Shoplifters of the World
Unloveable
Shakepears’s Sister
Asleep
Half a Person
Stretch Out and Wait
You Just Haven’t Earned it Yet Baby
Is it Really So Strange
Shelia Take a Bow
Sweet & Tender Hooligan
Rubber Ring
