Possibly my favourite Smiths track. The centrepiece of Meat is Murder and its perfect in every way. 10 out of 10 easily.

This is my fave 'slow' Smiths song. A gorgeous, epic 10. Moz just might die with a smile on his face afterall.

uplifting? i take that as the complete opposite. like, when you see bad stuff happen in other peoples lives and you say to yourself "thank god thats not me" or "That would never happen to me" and then it DOES. i think those are some of the SADDEST lyrics I've ever heard, not uplifting.

Agreed. Interesting, weren't both lyrics:

My favourite introduction to a Smiths song. Those few chords at the beginning somehow make me want to cry, no matter how many times I hear them. Morrissey said he heard great sadness in Johnny's chords and this must be one of the best examples. Beautiful.
