Wowser. Joe Gallen? He was our Assistant Manager for a few months last year before buggering back up to Millwall.
I wonder how close I was to seeing the ultimate site - Morrissey in an Exeter City shirt! :p
Theo, you know that with the well-rounded and thoughtful posts you have made on this thread, Kewpie will struggle to label you a troll in future! :p
And back on topic...perhaps it would have been nice if Jerry's passing was at least acknowledged on TTY. One sentence, no need to express...
Yes, true - but I would be very surprised if Warner's have not even attempted to contact both of them and ask for their input (Cover picture etc). Although, I would imagine they expected and got a sharp 'no' if they got an answer at all.
Perhaps it was a Marr prompted meeting about the...
Seeing as we know Morrissey and Marr do meet up to discuss the 'business' side of The Smiths; this meeting is somewhat expected due to the new compilation coming up.
Oh, God no, sorry Scarlet! Your name just happened to be at the top of Virgil's original quote. It was just to jibe in Virgil's direction that I'd be available for a East End breakfast :p
Cough. Can I not be part of the gang now? :o
And 'Panic on the Streets' I cannot recommend enough. It has both London and Manchester locations, so there's no need for anything else.
I have no idea what my first memory of Morrissey is. I remember buying a compilation album about 8 years ago with How Soon Is Now on and I used to always skip to that track. But I knew the song already, probably off tv as I never used to listen to the radio. In fact the compilation also had...
This is really positive, good news, and yet Love Music Hate Rascism haven't even bothered to put their own statement on their website.
Probably didn't want to offend their friends at the NME by highlighting that they've pulled out.
On a slightly different note, it does appear that the...
I remember you saying this about the last single, and yet it didn't even cross my mind when I bought both 7" 's in HMV and served by a very attractive female. Now I'm wondering if that was such a wise move.
Ah well, I'm leaving town soon anyway.
I don't find the lyrics depressing at all, especially not his solo lyrics. Although it must be said, the Smiths appeal to me far more when I'm in a depressive frame of mind. At times like that I feel the Smiths are the only ones who can get through to me.
Y'know, that's the gist of the North I get when reading this book..it's always behind the times!
(I, of course, say that with my tongue firmly in my cheek - how can someone born and bred in Devon say somewhere else is behind the times?! Starbucks only bothered this city last year:eek:)
Wasn't this quote used on the back of Panic on the Streets? Has Maconie just copied something he'd previously written?!
I have read past that in the book, but it's only occurred to me now...
I'm reading this at the moment too (along with Morrissey in Conversation - one is for my work lunch break, one is for home).
It's a good, interesting read - and that's coming from someone who has never lived further north than Leicester!
It'll be nice to think so, but I doubt anyone except Solo-ers will remember this in 3 months. It's also worth pointing out that Kasabian have also spoke out for Canadian seals recently. Hopefully the music industry will unite on this! (Wishful thinking...)
