Dream Pop and Shoegaze

Granted, IDK anything about cremation... like, if there are any cases where it's ritualized with a ceremony and an audience, but I figure most crematoriums are just dreary rooms within mortuaries...

I always preferred the idea of being cremated, but I don't think anyone present at my cremation is really going to give a rat's ass about my music preference... and the walkman would just melt (seriously, no pun intended) if I chose to have them pumping music into my dead ears through headphones...

Furthermore, I want my wake/"look at this f***ing sick vase!" party to have a comically inappropriate, loud electronic music DJ, if anything. Maybe spinning some "Brostep", or whatever the modern equivalent will be at the time of my death. I don't even listen to the stuff, I just think it would be really funny.

So, how anyone can contrive to find space for the words "dull" and "Kate Bush" within the same sentence is an absolute mystery to me, so different strokes indeed!

Seriously, the more I discuss music, the more struck I am by the extreme subjectivity of how it is experienced.

I think you forget how people also see the politics in music from certain bands and artists. Bush comes across as not only growing a big one between her legs but she also gave menopains a face and a voice while at the same time coming across as a batikwitch and a socialist prick.

I'm really loving Diiv. Perfect dream pop with over tones of shoegazing. Captured Tracks seem to be the record label with all the new dream pop/shoegazing bands on their roster.

I'm not sure if you guys have heard of Secret Shine, but I listened to "After Years" and I think it's in the top 3 shoegaze albums of all time. It's really good, they understood how shoegaze actually worked and I recommend anyone to check it out. Here's some songs I liked from it:

Other shoegaze albums I recommend are The Autumn's Angel Pool, for some reason they went absolutely terrible after their début. Pia Fraus début album is well worth a listen, they were very hit and miss after that. Other dream pop/shoegaze bands I thought were just as good were Clams, Daysleepers, Hope Factory, Rosemarys and Sky Drops. I have many more if your stuck looking for shoegaze bands at the moment :D

Also Fleeting Joys are apparently releasing their 3rd album really soon (check out new single "Kiss A Girl In Black) and Kitchens Of Distinction's new album is apparently being released September according to Patrick.

Secret Shine were pretty good. I have that 10" album at home. They were on Sarah Records who were never taken seriously, but now the record label is getting the credit it's due.

I wonder when Beautiful Noise is going to get released? It's taking a bloody long time since everyone donated money to get it released!

Oh, and Kitchens Of Distinction have a release date for their new album "Folly" - 30th September. Here's a song that will be on the album. Although I believe they aren't shoegazey as they were "back in the day"

You can find other clips of songs on here

I think Beautiful Noise will be out in December, which will be a year since the Kickstarter campaign ended. Not sure why it needs that much time, since they basically said it was finished except for licensing the music.
