So I haven't been on here long but I've gotten a feeling it's true: is anyone on here actually a fan of Morrissey or the Smiths? Or does everyone just kind of make fun of the ones who actually care about him/them and poke fun at and hate on the Moz? Cause if it's true I'm disappointed I don't actually have a place with likeminded people and that Morrissey haters are literally everywhere; it'd be nice if someone could correct me, that's just the vibe I've really been getting, and seeing in a few places.

I am a huge fan. Always have been and always will be. I definitely don't agree completely with all of the views/statements he's expressed over the years but I don't feel like I need to in order to love his music and respect him as an artist.

I wish there was some kind of written test we could give people to see if they're eligible to post in the off-topic section of this website. That way we could weed out the Gregor Samsa types with their tired references, boring turns of phrase, and lack of appreciation for vegan.cro's creativity and brilliance. Personally, I would immediately escort Gregor out of the vicinity for not understanding the difference between 'settlers'/'pioneers' and 'illegal immigrants'. You can't be an 'illegal immigrant' to a country that didn't yet exist. It becomes "illegal" when there are laws in place which make it illegal. It's irksome when someone only has a surface level understanding of a subject yet they're so smug about it as if they're some kind of whizz kid. I'd love to see you kick Gregor Samsa out the back door of this place, honey bunny!!! I think we would each grab one of his arms and see how far out the door we could throw him. Plus, we'd confiscate his Kafka books because you're right that he really shouldn't be reading him.

I never seem to tire of the Trial, nor the Judgment, nor the Penal Colony, nor the Metamorphosis. Etc. But if I have to pick one, I’d say the Trial is the most rewarding. Fantastic plot, equally unsettling, equally hilarious, with an array of weird, creepy, funny characters.

So, rather than give up on him many "fans" choose to use him as a surrogate target for all of the disappointment they feel about others (and maybe even themselves).
Plus, Morrissey makes this super easy by releasing some random observation every few months that is either so stupid or poorly thought out that it's nearly impossible not to have an opinion on it if you care about him at all or ever did.
There are very few absolute "haters." Most people. like me, who criticize him sometimes will also praise him other times. Probably the best example of unwavering hate could be found in the posts of Uncleskinny but it's pretty unanimous that he's lost the plot and is projecting his own issues at an image of "Morrissey" that exists only in his own mind and that he feels, pathetically, owes him something.

I had a dream about him last night. I was offered a backstage pass, and went in, and casually walked past Morrissey, stupidly. Then later, I was at a table with people, and Morrissey showed up. I wrote my phone number on a little piece of paper to give him.
