FWD.

I hadn't a Scooby i emailed a friend and they said " viva hate
mixed with his lyric 'finally got what you wanted "
Probably means M isn't getting anything he is requesting and feels finished
Rather than be a man he is blaming those who wished him gone, the haters "
I kind of think the guys maybe right but I don't know . I'm lost on this one
I emailed a friend and he told me this isn't true

The first line is from a song by The Jam 1979 B side to Strange Town
Paul Weller wrote it

So you finally got what you wanted
You've achieved your aim by making the walking lame
And when you just can't get any higher
You use your senses to suss out this week's climber
And the small fame that you've acquired
Has brought you into cult status
But to me you're still a collector
There's tarts and whores but you're much more
You're a different kind 'cause you want their minds
And you just don't care 'cause you've got no pride
It's just a face on your pillowcase
That thrills you
And you started looking much older
And your fashion sense is second-rate like your perfume
But to you in your little dream world
You're still the queen of the butterfly collectors
As you carry on 'cause it's all you know
You can't light a fire, you can't cook or sew
You get from day to day by filling your head
But surely you must know the appeal between your legs
Has worn off
And I don't care about morals
'Cause the world's insane and we're all to blame anyway
And I don't feel any sorrow
Towards the kings and queens of the butterfly collectors
There's tarts and whores but you're much more
You're a different kind 'cause you want their minds
And you just don't care 'cause you've got no pride
It's just a face on your pillowcase
That thrills you
You carry on 'cause it's all you know
You can't light a fire, you can't cook or sew
You get from day to day by filling your head
But surely you must know the appeal between your legs
Has worn off
And I don't feel any sorrow
Towards the kings and queens of the butterfly collectors

It was also perhaps relegated to b-side status because it’s a little saucy – the butterfly being collected is Weller himself, and it’s a scathing put-down of groupies. I’ve read different reports of whom it’s about – one theory is that it’s a rebuke to Soo Catwoman who’d moved on from The Sex Pistols’ entourage by this time. It’s also reported to have been written about NME music journalist Julie Burchill. Either way, “There’s tarts and whores/But you’re much more” is a memorable opening line for the chorus.

Nice find! So it wasn't Sam after all!

He really does need to start crediting the original artists, the little shit.

So this song is on Viva Hate, it's Alsatian Cousin, I talked about it yesterday. SER is sending me a message.

A beautiful image - ruined. It's the 'Chanda Hat' by Nina Leen. I'm sure someone as protective of artists' rights as Morrissey will shortly issue a full acknowledgement of the photographer.

Maybe it’s a title to one of the new songs on the next album, after BOT? Perhaps VH is featured because the lyrics are about feeling discarded?

Anyone any idea what this means, strange thing to post without any context.
I do tend to take things personally, but I think it refers to my recent concerns about venue overcrowding experienced at the Albert Hall (Astley) and Stockton.

I feel very angry and sad at the moment. Anyone could see the Brixton thing coming. And I suspect a lot of these venues have argued for more lax ‘red tape’ since Covid. How many warnings do these idiots need?

I write only to you because you’ve recognised the issue. And the world won’t listen.

Same with the Bunnymen at the Albert Hall, horribly overcrowded and unsafe.
