Morrissey Central "THANK YOU, PERU !" (June 23, 2023)

THANK YOU, PERU !

Presale tickets for Anfiteatro Parque de la Explosion in Lima, Peru on September 14 have sold out immediately.

I've told you before and I'll tell you again. Money is the only thing he's interested in. And when he sells 4000 tickets, it's ching-ching-ching. That's why he celebrates. It is, was, and always has been the only thing he's interested in. I guess we'll have a long wait before he trumpets a non-sold-out venue.
I don’t think it’s good for you to remain so fixated on somebody that offends you so much.

Maybe look the other way?

'Presale tickets for Anfiteatro Parque de la Explosion in Lima, Peru on September 14 have sold out immediately.'

He hasn't sold 4000 tickets but he has convinced some of you that this is a 'hot ticket'. Classic marketing scam.

How many pre-sale tickets were made available? 10%? 25%?

I glanced at Ticketmaster UK this afternoon and there are tickets available for every single show. Not surprisingly given the prices. Clearly the attempt to generate 'artificial scarcity' and 'panic buying' by announcing bogus sell-outs didn't work so the seats are being released in dribs and drabs to make it appear as if these gigs are sold out when there's probably 50% of inventory still on reseller websites waiting to be shifted.

Why do artists be party to this fraudulent nonsense?

It's not as if Morrissey doesn't have form for this kind of malarkey...don't believe the hype...

Kind regards

'Morrissey fans stunned by 'free ticket' giveaway ahead of Manchester Arena show
Stunned passers-by were celebrating after a city centre giveaway to see Manchester music legend Morrissey. A mystery man was reported in the city centre handing out tickets for the former Smiths frontman’s Manchester Arena gig tomorrow.'

'The classic pre-sale model: this is one of the easiest and most authentic ways to create a sense of urgency and a feeling of exclusivity in your target audience. Your ticketing inventory is limited, after all, so once it’s gone, it’s gone!...Scarcity is a powerful driver in purchasing behavior. Consumers tend to place additional value on items they believe are in limited supply or difficult to acquire, making them more inclined to purchase. If you’re not leveraging the principle of scarcity to sell tickets and promote events at your venue, you are missing out on a great opportunity! (See what we did there?). Read on to discover new ideas for using scarcity in your marketing promotions so you can sell more tickets, increase revenue and reach new audiences.'

I don't let anyone rip me off. I'll go see Morrissey because I love it, not because the tickets are sold out or not in any country. Please stop underestimating people !!!!! Do you think we are idiots?

This maybe?

Exerpt:

But Morrissey was still due to play in Peru, Chile, Brazil and Argentina, and he landed in Lima just a couple of weeks ago. "Peru, Peru," he wrote. "My heart's lighthouse."
Then Morrissey's entire team was hit with food poisoning. "After such a victorious and uplifting welcome of Lima love, the contaminated jinx had its way via a simple restaurant meal of penne pasta and tomato," he wrote. "[We] collapsed with a deadly and delirious bedridden disease." The singer flew off to receive treatment in Los Angeles.

Ah that must be what he was referring to, was going to make a joke about not needing lube but I've no idea if Morrissey is the giver or the receiver (and don't care either way)

Kraftwerk next Wednesday! Ooh you mean Moz. Oops.

Moz 15th July in Dublin!

Pulp for me at Castlefield Bowl, can't get to any of the Moz gigs unfortunately as I'm in Italy for a few weeks on my hols. Bit disappointing as I really enjoyed the manchester gig lat time around.

Well...some of you are definitely idiots but some of you are highly amusing and make very interesting observations.

I'm glad you love going to Morrissey gigs because it would be very sad if you hated going but were forced to attend by your local police force.

I'm merely pointing out that concert promoters, ticket agencies and artists tell lies when it suits them to do so. In my view it's pretty despicable for fans to be tricked into a state of panic by devious marketing 'mind games'. Happily they sometimes get caught out and exposed as idiots. If Morrissey is playing near to your home town or city and you read reports that the event us 'sold out', just ignore it. Check for tickets online a few hours before the show and you may very well find that a slew of tickets has suddenly appeared at face value. This can work even if you're a Taylor Swift fan, even after the show has begun! Tickets that have failed to sell at crazy prices suddenly appear at face value or less...

'After nearly nine hours of refreshing Ticketmaster, she secured four tickets right before the show started. “We were sitting outside of the stadium while the openers were playing, but as soon as our payment went through, it was an out-of-body experience,” she said. “My sister started screaming and dancing.”'

I also work for money. As a singer from my country says in a song: "You can not live on love .... that singer is called Andres Calamaro and the lyrics are great. Moz is happy for the recognition, not for the money, I agree with someone who said here that if it were for the money he would have already gathered The Smith that would leave him fortunes!!!! Why don't you leave Morrissey alone.? Moz is recognized all over the world and he is happy about that !!!! Your comments stink with envy!!!!!!

Yes! If you do not agree with MORRISSEY or Don´t recognize his job.... please ...follow another website or artist!.... It´s funny... some people put your comments here just to be like an idiot ....if you aren´t a mozz fan why you need to input your energy about morrissey....

Yes, it’s baffling to hear this incessant and pathetic “only cares about the money” refrain. Please someone show me where it says anyone was ever supposed to be doing this for free.

"I slept last night in a good hotel
I went shopping today for jewels
The wind rushed around in the dirty town
And the children let out from the schools
I was standing on a noisy corner
Waiting for the walking green
Across the street he stood
And he played real good
On his clarinet, for free
Now me i play for fortunes
And those velvet curtain calls
I've got a black limousine
And two gentlemen
Escorting me to the halls
And i play if you have the money
Or if you're a friend to me
But the one man band
By the quick lunch stand
He was playing real good, for free
Nobody stopped to hear him
Though he played so sweet and high
They knew he had never
Been on their t.v.
So they passed his music by
I meant to go over and ask for a song
Maybe put on a harmony...
I heard his refrain
As the signal changed
He was playing real good, for free"

Mitchell revealed the song’s inspiration when she introduced it at the Newport Folk Festival in 1969, saying: “There’s a young man in New York City, I don’t know his name, but he’s blind and he sits on the street and plays his clarinet for whatever money people will give him. I’ve often ridden past him, and wondered about his life, and I’ve written this song for him. It’s called ‘The Boy Who Plays for Free.'”

Oh yeah, I love this song. Good call, Scrummers! Skinny needs to find the nice man on the stoop on the street in this song if he wants anyone to play for him for free.

I love how always smart you are! 😻

‘Blind Richie soon became aware of ‘For Free’ and felt like Mitchell had exploited his story on the track. Ray Schulz tracked the street performer down for an article in 1970 for the East Village Other, and he came across as a problematic individual.

In the piece, Schulz wrote: “Did you hear what he said about Joni Mitchell’s song?” someone else asked, “He said it was a phoney, that she didn’t bother to get to know him, and she should have f***ed him if she wanted to write an honest song. Besides, Joni Mitchell’s retired now, ain’t she? Living with Graham Nash or someone?”

Harrowingly, in the article, despite being blind, Richie is also quoted using a series of racial slurs against people in the street. Unfortunately, there are no further updates on the whereabouts of the singer-songwriter and whether he survived the mean streets of New York or became another statistic.’

“Thank you, Peru” is, of course, also one of the lyrics from the deleted verse in The Bullfighter Dies.
I went to a bullfight in the suburbs there the day of the last show in Lima.

Not such a mastermind then after all then. You wasted the best part of your life. 🤪

That was sad. Well told, but sad. Basically everyone made money off him, including the woman who held his money, the two goon clarinet pimps, Joni, the writer, and the photographer at the end.

I think the moral of the story is people will always f*** you. Because you will still also get f***ed even if you’re not a blind and homeless clarinet player.

now that’s the sweet magnolia truth!

I guess Joni couldn’t have called the song ‘For Free (if you’re a cheap bastard, and don’t wanna throw the guy a dime)”

Anyhoo, … no one plays for free.

NO ONE!

ETA: Although you really never know. Maybe Lana’s just been waiting her whole entire career until now, just to get to sing for Skinny for free!

Here are Beyonce and Jay Z today in the south of France having lunch in Saint Paul de Vence. I sure hope they don’t work just for the money. Quelle horreur. Maybe they get lucky and someone throws them a dog biscuit every once in awhile, too.
