Worst ever Smiths/Morrissey song

Not one Smiths song is bad because Morrissey's lyrics were fresh and you could never beat Johnny Marr's jangly guitar solo...they are all good!
Morrissey solo without Johnny Marr, well...there's a lot

dunno why, I wrote it numerous of times, and now he's playing it even live,
of all the Smiths songs he could've played he choose my skip Smiths song

Is it reaaly so strange

dunno why I don't like it, Morrisseys voice a bit too yodeling or the simple
structure of the songs

the klyrics are OK

I dunno why, but I don't like it [but compared with other music/bands, I
mean hearing it on daytime radio during the golden oldies working radio,
with phone huest, DJ trying to get us through the mourning by his boring
humour, this song would be apreciated, clear?

Re: Worst ever Smiths/Morrissey song.

^Morrissey's Moon River is gorgeous, gtfo.

Is it wrong that I like almost all of those songs on Maurice's list? :p I agree that Journalists who Lie, Sorrow and Slum Mums are pretty bad. Lazy Dykes gets a bad rap  This list is missing a lot of recent stuff -some much worse than these choices like, I'll Never be Anybody's Hero now and Paris. But no list is complete without That's How People Throw Up.

Slum Mums is one of my favorites... but lets not go back to the children debate.

Obviously Maurice has no idea what he is talking about it... he did hit on with ATLD tho. But anyone who dislikes draize train and found found found is on crack.

The only genuine candidate is The Harsh Truth of the Camera Eye, a song without redeeming features and worse than most of the unreleased Morrissey songs we've heard.

All the others, even Get Off The Stage or Journalists Who Lie, for example, have some qualities to them and are listenable.

Many other songs that people are mentioning here are actually great!

This isn't Maurice's list you berks! It's from our 2007/2008 poll (which has recently recommenced). The biggest ever of Morrissey/Smiths songs with tens of thousands of votes cast over a 12 month period (approximately). You'll find it here; http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?p=772612
It's the closest thing we've got to a consensus and what constitutes the best and the worst songs. Personally, I don't agree with many of the songs' ratings. Love 'There Speaks, 'You've Had Her', 'Cosmic Dancer' etc and quite like a few others on the list too. Still, it's interesting to see the results and fairly relevant to this thread.

Re: Worst ever Smiths/Morrissey song.

I'd say: who am I to judge?
There are songs I seldom listen to, but I wouldn't dare to list them as bad...

Smiths - Shakespere's Sister
Morrissey - Sweetie Pie

For the 'Smiths' nomination there were a few contenders from the 'Strangeways' album. But I'll stick with Shakespere's Sister, if only because Morrissey blamed the record company for it's poor chart placing, and I thought if failed because it's a pretty terrible record. Sorry, Moz.

The Smiths...Not overly keen on 'Death of a Disco dancer'
Morrissey.....'Hairdresser on Fire'.

The proviso being ofcourse that ever the worst of Mozzer is better than the Best of everyone else.
But those are two fantastic songs! How could you!
I would nominate Smiths 'paint a vulgar picture'( a few good lyrics but otherwise too long and boring) and Morrissey 'Journalists who lie' or 'At last I am born' (uurgh)

3 KILL UNCLE SONGS, AND HAVENT EVEN SCROLLED UP TILL THE TOP

tsk:tears:

Morrissey - He Knows (I'd Love to See Him)
The Smiths - This Night Has Opened My Eyes

I love those two, especially He Knows I'd Love To See Him. I like Dagenham Dave though, so perhaps my opinion is somewhat invalid.

Re: Worst ever Smiths/Morrissey song.

Death at One's Elbow.
Found Found Found.

Smiths - None whatsoever.
Morrissey - Munich Air Disaster 1958 (and not because I'm a City fan, it's just an awful song:thumb:)
