new york wasn't nearly as bad as los angeles sounds to have been. perhaps because it was earlier?

the well mannered line began to take shape around 4:15-ish. my only complaint there was that virgin made no attempt to place people in the order of their tickets, other than asking us to find our proper place. surprisingly, most people did just that, only a handful felt the need to hop an earlier place in line. in any event, even though there were people with higher numbers than mine in front of me, i was still about 100th in line, which is where i should have been, according to my ticket number.

security was tight, but not completely oppressive. there were occasional announcements like "there will be no hugging" or "he will only sign the dvd. have it ready". two guards stood at the door, one cut off our wristbands while the other one de-magnetized the dvd. then we stood in a shorter line inside, waiting our turn. two guards hovered over the table; when it was your turn to approach the table, you literally had to squeeze in between the two guards, with your shoulders touching theirs.

morrissey wore a white button-down shirt. he seemed a bit weary. i asked how he was doing and he just sighed. i made a small joke, to which he responded, but by trying to be witty i forgot to tell him my name, so my autograph isn't personalized. oh well.

a guy stood photographing us all; i'm sincerely hoping it was david, and that our pictures will also appear on the website. if so, we will all owe david a debt of gratitude; as NO pictures were allowed to be taken by fans.

i didn't stay to see what happened after i left. i'm pretty sure it was as uneventful as what happened before my turn. a bit anticlimactic, but if meeting morrissey was the goal of this adventure, then the mission was certainly accomplished.
