Lady Gaga new single "Born This Way" breaking sales records

It sounds a lot like Madonna from the early 90's. That's a good thing. You can't really do better than this with pop dance music. Lyrics aren't super well thought out, but the chorus is what matters and it works.

The only single I've really liked from her before was "Telephone." I found the melodies of the other songs to be a little too blatant actually, and I didn't like to hear them because they would get stuck in my head, This one is more about thump thump thump thump with some less ambitious, less insistent melodies over the top, which makes it a lot easier to listen to in a relaxed way, in my opinion.

I don't know, dude, I didn't like it.

I do like these, though:

I really can't form an opinion about Lady Gaga. She creates catchy melodies, crazy looks and stuff, but her lyrics seems so amateur and traditional to me. This new single didn't catch much of my attention. I don't "hate her" or anything like that, but I just think that if you take off her polemic clothes and videos, she's so boring...

Yoko's new single.

and another one.

Someone should mention that the title is a rip-off of James Maker & Noko 440's fantastic single "Born That Way", which was released on Morrissey's Attack label.

Another version:

Killer song (Maker's, that is). Wish I could make out all the lyrics, but the ones I can are cool as hell!

Sure, Theo. She probably wants to make people think it's the James Maker song since he sells so much more than she does. Or maybe she's ripping off "Born Free" or "My Way." But look, what's this? It's a song called "Born That Way" and it was released in 1995.

I like that one better than Lady Gaga's, too:

But Lady Gaga didn't say that that he is one of her heroes and style inspirations, as she did about Morrissey. In this clip (starts at relevant part) Morrissey is the name she immediately gives when asked:

Lady Gaga is known to be a fan of Morrissey's former band The Smiths, and also named the star as her Man of the Year for GQ in 2009.

So, since she's said she looks through Morrissey career for inspirations, it's impossible that that led her to see the James Maker song title as she was thinking of what to call her next single? It's impossible she would have looked at James Maker's book, or visited his web site, or checked out a lot of his stuff as she was looking through Morrissey's career for inspirations?

You don't think she wound up checking out this James Maker song?

What you don't know is that James Maker and Boy Howdy are collaborating on a song called Unfortunate Love Affair.

It's time for Lady Caca to get off the stage.

Flavour of the moment. A footnote in history. And CRAP.

P.

Right, and I remember you think she's unoriginal and just wants to be famous. But weren't you trying to get on television playing cover versions? You just need to get your wig situation together and go for it.

Err, no I wasn't, you must be thinking of someone else there.

The whole Gaga thing is emperor's new clothes syndrome.

this is embarassing.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and make this spiritual and say this is a good time to point out that Madonna and Lady Gaga are just channeling the same muse who's big on open free love. Madonna's old and sinewy, the muse had to find a fresh face and chose Gaga but she keeps singing the same song because it's all that she knows. I dunno. THere has to be an explaination for why it's so completely ripped off, because it is. For these times, I turn to God as a reason. :p
