So I'm a bit obsessive. I like stuff, I really have no reason.

I wonder how many 'completists' there are - those who seek to collect every copy of every release - less than 20? Less than 10? - Mikael is obviously a high profile completist, there are some collectors on here that are getting there (Roky, Irregular Regular spring to mind as collectors building a handsome collection) others will have a complete(ish) collection already and only post here to answer questions, or correct someone when they are wrong, but there will be others who don't show us their latest purchase, who either lurk at the back or don't even come here.

Dave

I don't intend to judge anyone. I like to see so many copies but I think you spend too much money buying a stuff as large as yours.

Mikael I think it's really obsessive.... why so many of the same album?

I've always found it a bit strange that one would have to defend collecting to people who hang out in a... collectors forum. Collecting is an obsession. I don't understand it, sometimes I wish someone would tell me why I collect, but that's the way it is. Some people collect more, some people collect less. Some people just want the artwork. Others the rare tracks. Others only original pressings. Others just cds. Others just magazines. Or just very valuable items. Some just the Smiths, others just Morrissey. And some of us want it all.

I've given up on being a completist in 2006. Now I concentrate only on insider stuff. But I miss having all the variations on an item. That's the kick about working on the collectors appendices. I get to revisit all of it. Actually Mikael has all his Viva Hates out because he's been a great help with the Viva Hate collectors appendix which I'm currently sweating on. A good chunk of my collection is now into his hands and now he has to answer all my tedious little questions about the items I don't own anymore.

And Dave, there are quite a few completists more than the ones you mention. Hanging around here are Jeff and Marcel at least, and perhaps others. And I know of at least 5-10 people who don't hang around here or if they do, they never write, just lurk.

Apologies for forgetting Jeff and Marcel...

I love to see people's collections and Passions & Vulgar Picture are always the place where I check out different artworks or even set lists. I admit I'm not interest in collecting items just because they have two or more different covers however I am really interested in rares tracks or different songs and versions. I don't own a turntable but I bought a GG pic disc 'cause I know it's gonna be a collectable item soon as IJTWSTBH 12'' & 7'' pic discs did.

An excellent way to remove price tags and sticky gunk from your record sleeves is to use some Ronsonol or Zippo lighter fluid, and a plain-edged knife with a belly.

Squeeze some lighter fluid on the sticker, rub it around a bit with your finger. After about 30 seconds to a minute, carefully stick the knife under the sticker. It will come off with ease. If there is any remaining goo, just squeeze some more lighter fluid directly on it, and gently swirl a finger on the goo, it will dissolve.

You have to be very careful with laminated sleeves, as sometimes the lamination comes off with the sticker. Most sleeves are not like this.

This process will stain those natural unbleached sleeves that are the same color as grocery bags, so don't use it on those.

This also works for removing labels from jewel cases and record labels.

I NEVER remove the stickers/tags. It's cool to remember where you got 'em!

I love the Mozmania one....well done I.R. truly beautiful.
Cheers Moz
