Buzzcocks Cover

Great choice of song, a lesser known one rather than one of the obvious Buzzcocks songs (mind you, 'Orgasm Addict' would have been sensational:D)

I suppose this choice is a natural progression from Magazine's 'Songs from under the floorboard' as Howard Devoto was an original member of Buzzcocks. Hope so, as like that song, this Buzzcocks tune would be a great B-side!:)

not wishing to sound ever the pedant but surely it's regression not progression?

Floorboards 1980, You Don't Love Me 1979?

So what about Friends Of Mine from Spiral Scratch next? :D

When the song ended Morrissey said something like "that was a cover version by the greatest Manchester band ever" and put the microphone to the crowd to which some people shouted Buzzcocks.

It's a classic. 25 great songs.

2 Interesting facts about the Buzzcocks:
a) Linder Sterling designed the cover of the single "Orgasm Addict"
b) Mike Joyce played drums for the Buzzcocks and recorded the album Trade Test Transmissions. They didn't like the mix and decided to re-record it on another studio, but in the meanwhile Mike Joyce left the band.

I love this song! But I can't imagine a Moz version... Anyone upload a copy?

just remember, pedantary will leave you with no room to kip in London;)
I meant a progression in covering Manc bands - and no pedantary in saying Shelley was from Leigh and Devoto from West Yorkshire....:p

Yes that is the album I have it on - £5 from Fopp!

Another interesting (no, really) Buzzcocks fact is that the drummer was called John Mayer and is the reason the 'other' John Maher changed his name to Johnny Marr
