It’s about security. Who knows what Morrissey’s security team have told the venue security.

There are people in this audience who are neurotic and calling someone you claim to love as neurotic is odd.

Over the years there have been many incidents including people trying to break into his hotel room. His security have a job to do and pretty sure they are left to decide what’s best for his health and safety.

I already said that earlier on - that it may have been at his request!

It isn't odd; it's being a realist. Believe it or not you can actually criticise someone you adore without it affecting the way you feel about them; it isn't as discordant as one might think. That's what some folks around don't seem to comprehend. I'll add you to that list.

Yes, I do understand all of that. I'm not an imbecile. My initial comment was about the OTT security at the gig, and it was OTT.

Trinity was the name of the other American girl I was thinking of, come to think of it, didn’t see her at any of these shows or the shows at end of last year
The others are names I kinda recognise , but couldn’t put to the correct face , probably know them to see them.

It’s all very , names / being a face, reminds me of going to the football and people on nodding terms / recognising others as they always attend, seem to get a ticket from somewhere, no matter the location / size of the venue

Kinda thin line between a social community and a closed shop
The others seem alright, nice enough people, keep themselves to themselves but having her walked in doesn’t reflect well on morrissey in my opinion, for genuine people that might be at their one and only morrissey concert in their home city to be shouted at, punched and more by an aggressive girl and have their magical evening they were looking forward to end up in tears is really sad but for her to have the privilege of being escorted through to do so is insulting to his genuine fans and at odds with he seems to stand for.

Morrissey at the Hammersmith Apollo review | Big Mouth goads the radical in us

A night of burning melancholy sees Morrissey, British society’s notorious pariah, deftly meld classics, new tracks, and powerful visuals for a thought-provoking performance. Read our Morrissey at the Hammersmith Apollo review.

Yes, but Morrissey doesn’t give a shit about any of that. I mean, he loved Curtis and had him on his guest list, and Curtis was a thief who stole from people (including numerous fans) and was also a fraudster. Everyone knew this when he was around, yet people put up with it because he was on Morrissey’s “list.” If you crossed him, he would threaten to get you banned from shows! He tried to throw his imaginary weight around and was horrible to a lot of people. So, Moz isn’t going to care about some girl who displays revolting behaviour.

I think this is a very accurate description. We’ve all seen the bad things.

Definitely better than Dodwell's school magazine cliché fest. Moz now has so much unreleased material that the reviewer is getting the album titles mixed up.
I do like the hope that democracy and free speech are coming back to the UK. Morrissey - the eternal optimist...

To be honest, I can only see tiny cracks in the Wall of Woke, nowhere near enough yet to bring it tumbling down. But hey, that's a discussion for another thread/day/year...

I don’t even go to lots and lots so god knows what else I haven’t seen. To the other response that said morrissey doesn’t give a shit, I have faith in him and I’d like to think if he’d seen what I have he would definitely care.

Once the disease of Tiktok runs its course, wokeness will quickly die out. I really do think there is an argument to be made that Tiktok has ruined a generation of people.

This photo certainly is proving to be popular.

Ahh, okay. I couldn't see that distance from where I was seated. Man, that's such a shame for people wanting to feel closer to him. That's part of the M experience for many folks. We feel an affinity with him and some are often "desperate" to get closer.

Absolutely, also makes getting barriers a bit less worth it - when especially last night people were literally either camping or spent the whole day since the morning outside, to be in the front

You have lists?

Strange.

I didn’t think the security were OTT. Seen many gigs where it has been OTT but not last night. There were days when security would drag people who tried to get on stage out of the venue by the neck and push them to the ground.

I fully expect the reason for security pushing people’s hands away was because of the size of the gap between the stage and the barrier. That always poses a safety risk to someone on the stage if someone grabs his hand. Hands become grabs instead of shakes and there have been many occasions where he has been almost pulled off the stage. It’s all about safety.

Did someone stop morrissey from speaking? Must have missed that period.

Was he the bloke selling dodgy Smiths records if I remember rightly?
Shitty thing to do to other genuine fans, nasty

I think you misunderstood the poster. They weren’t talking about morrissey on stage but the atmosphere and the audience off stage. A lot of the recent gigs have been staid in the audience so it is now rare to get that kind of audience energy that used to be every single gig.
Thank you for clarifying, fellow anonymous! Yes I was referring to the audience. I've been at Morrissey shows when he's been far from his best, be it a crappy venue, a ropey setlist or when he's been visibly ill with a cold (this is pre his 'cancel at the first sign of a cough' days). On those nights it was the audience that lifted him and made the show. I just wonder why by and large the audience is no longer stimulated enough to react like that.

That photo is indeed fantastic. It's the fact it's such a rare sight these days that puzzles me.
