Sorry my response if probably useless too - I've been thinking about getting one for my daughter but like you - have no idea how or IF they will work? They've come down heaps in price here, so that made me think maybe they aren't so good.

I found this review

If you can only play 3 songs that doesn't sound like it will be a toy that will hold much interest for long. Think I might just get an acoustic for her.

a fake paper guitar that plays pre recorded rock tracks as you strum it. you don't play it you just pretend to came from rockers playing air guitar.
Spend just a little extra and get him this it looks great value, and if he he picks it up and runs with itthe joy will last a lifetime not just till the first set of batterys run out. :guitar::guitar:

I tried the one at the store and I agree with the review that most kids would get bored with this pretty fast and it's $25. Sometimes you can find real guitars for that amount at secondhand shops. If he wants to play guitar it would be worth it to spend a little more and have a guitar that all your kids could have a chance to play. If you're looking at it as a toy I guess $25 isn't bad because popular toys are expensive.
