Nobody Loves Us

It gets me every single time I hear it. I had it on in my car last night. I cranked up the volume and drove home the whole way with goosebumps.

His voice, the lyrics, the notes he hits, backed by that incredible music… Sheer perfection.

Nobody Loves Us is a modern pop masterpiece. A wonderful, soaring piece of music, a bravura vocal delivery, and some of the best rhyming couplets ever committed to song.
And as we all know, it's a-side (Dagenham) is one of Morrissey's worst songs of all time.
Ironically though, this single came out when Moz probably had his greatest ever level of radio support in the UK. It was 'A-listed' on Radio 1.
So Nobody Loves Us really could have been one of Morrissey's best known, best loved songs. Perhaps his first ever 'standard'.
Instead, it's just a minor footnote, known only by the likes of us lot.
