the official foxwoods play by play

Got some great pictures but I don't have the connector cable for my camera. Will post here on Monday. He took my shirt, xfranklyx's note, and a bunch of flowers and put them on the drum riser. I felt a lack of energy. The setlist is getting a bit stale. Still had a great time.

Looking forward to seeing those pictures Sweetness, congrats on the shirt. :guitar:

I bet you're right about Foxwoods pulling the plug. What a bunch of jerks. I'll be sure not to gamble there next time I catch a concert there. Happy to have walked out of the casino with $60 of their money to boot (wooo blackjack).

THIS is the most accurate post here about last night's END! it was TRULY the REASON!!! FOXWOODS unplugged him. THEY WANT PEOPLE GAMBLING, NOT ENTERTAINED!!!! moz toyed with that when he said we've got to get back to pulling the slot handles before shows end. witness the fact NO CORTEENERS and MOZ on @ 8; show done by 9:30. they probably told him get off by 9:20 if you want an encore and then they SHUT THE ELECTRIC except his mike when they came back!!!! witness jesse and boz TRYING to play....you can clearly hear on my tape that they are NOT plugged in!!! old casino trick...SHORT SHOWS!!!! well, my tape came sweet and i got three COMPLETE songs on video that i will youtube for all soon.

Now that you mention it, didn't moz look at his watch at some point and made some comment about the time?

He did.. and he tapped his wrist, but he had no watch on. I thought he was just being silly.

I didn't even see Jesse.. I didn't think to look that way because Moz was looking at Boz.

Did you actually see Jesse trying to play?

This is the official foxwoods play by play. I will post if anyone responds with an interest. This is my first moz balcony show in a long time and I'm not sure what else there is to do up there. Let me know. Listening to the Courteeners in the car now to rev up.

Let me get this right.....
you were actually at the gig..... and presumably on M-solo on your mobile phone and posting regular updates about the gig etc?

Whilst I admire your devotion to the cause and this site..... I'm sure we can all survive for 90 minutes until all the facts come through at the end and allow you to enjoy the gig to the max.
I'm not being critical of you, great that you did it....just wish you were not tied to your phone throughout the gig.

Congrats on winning $60.00!

Bronx, I think you're onto something. I didn't see Jesse try to play either, but he probably did.

yeah...the oldest casino trick in the book. any musician will tell you they are STRICTLY informed of WHEN to get the hell off the stage. time (at the tables and slots) is M-O-N-E-Y!!!!

Sebastian, rap video, casino horror, Navy??

Well well well.

Just when you thought casinos were acceptable venues for real music...they're not. Foxwoods was nuts because he went on early, yah, check all that, too bad. Maybe the casino mobsters forced hi to start early. But what about the competition of having a Navy Ballroom Dance in the same casino? None of those boys looked like the sailor in the stage backdrop with his fat cigar. No, these sailors were old and rental-tuxedoed.

I want to see Sebastian again, and love all the first-row kid banter. Prediction: M will adopt within the year, but not some 3rd world kid a la Madge and Brangie. You know that's why he cut out early last night, right? For the sake of kiddie eardrums. Yes I'm kidding ya rufflebirds.

They were also filming a rap video in the hotel. Some all-biz gal naed Julie was managing this rapper, L'il Momo or something. They roped off an entire section of the casino floor to shoot a few seconds of him dry-humping a craps table covered with ass-shaking dancers. Can you say dissonance?

Oh well, all's well that ends well. Even if the show didn't end "well," at least Moz had the grace to deliver his awkward apology. Cheers to that, and let's hope it's not his voice, and just the amp.

To you haters ("I'm not going to another show, etc, blah blah----there's plenty waiting in line to buy those tickets, so go home and cry and listen to anybody but Moz while you do. Let me suggest Carole King, or that poof Conor Oberst.

It was a flatulent pain in the arse in some respects. In philly and foxwoods, I quit early either because I sneaked downstairs or got closer yet. I for one hope others play-by-play some of the other gigs for an otherwise boring tuesday or wednesday night at home now that I've seen my last show for a while anyway.

Nice one... as said, thanks for your efforts.:)

First post here, second Moz show. Just got back home to NYC. Couldn't make it to any of the city shows because of the cost.

I was row P in the orchestra until the lights went out. Made my way up to the stage. It was really great from where I was. True, the mix of the crowd was really really odd. A bunch of fans mixed in with casino comps.

Wish there had been a better mix on the setlist, but what can you do? I thought what he played was great, and his voice was amazing. His inbetween song interaction was funny and charming (especially with the little kids up front).

Shirt got tossed and my girl got a piece of it. I managed to get one of his cufflinks (silver, rectangular, with a tiny diamond-like stone in one corner)!

It's a shame about the encore. Band took the stage and Moz said something to intro the song. When Boz strummed the first chords of the intro to "First", all I could hear was the "acoustic" strumming on his guitar. Nothing was coming out of the amp. Boz and his guitar tech tried to get things working, and Moz mentioned something about his intro quote having "lost its momentum.." they worked on the amp some more while Moz and the band looked on. Eventually Moz said goodbye and walked off. The rest of the band followed and Solomon gave an apologetic shrug as "That's Life" came over the PA.

He's throwing cufflinks too? He could poke an eye out ;):D

Hello & thanks for the review ~ I LOVE your user name/the song :guitar:

Jesse tossed out a bunch of picks that say
MEXI
CAN

on them.. Kristopher Pooley threw out a couple as well. Didn't see what his said.

Hahhah.. He didn't throw the cufflinks alone, they were still attached to the buttonholes in the cuffs on the shirt he tossed.

And thank you. Moz and the Smiths are above and beyond in my book, but I'm a die hard Clash fan since I was a little kid. Looking through the Smiths/Moz collections on this forum look a lot like my collection of Clash and Strummer memorabilia.

I knew they were still attached ;) Very cool getting ahold of one of Morrissey's 'jewels' ;):D Man, wish I could afford to throw away diamonds ;)

I can only imagine your Clash collection

p.s. You don't want to go to this thread http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=97614&highlight=clash or maybe you do. ;)

Hahhah.. Cheers.. I got a laugh outta that.. Funny about the poster of that topic... I'm a massive psychobilly fan as well, and his username is also the name of a festival in England that was cancelled this past year where MANY people have yet to receive their refunds from..

I saw Moz look playfully at his watch when he delievered the line "ask me while I still have time" but what was so funny was that he wasn't wearing a watch!

Also, as a correction to an earlier post. The item that Moz signed inbetween songs wasn't an album, but a photo of the guy and Moz from more than a few years ago..

:D I'll add my two cents to the Foxwoods show. We got to the Casino early to play some craps and have dinner. Around 7:45pm we decided to go into the theater at the MGM Grand. During a quick pre-show bathroom break I heard This Charming Man playing and figured someone had put a bootleg in to get everybody ready. But the show had started. I assumed he would go on around 9pm. We got to our seats in the upper level right as he was starting "Black Cloud". The venue was very nice and I doubt there is a bad seat in the house. I was stunned to see so many people sitting down. But the group I was with stayed standing for most of the show. Moz seemed in a good mood.....signing things for fans....giving them the mike to speak. But he also seemed to be in a hurry to get out of there. Perhaps the crowd being somewhat sedate bored him. I thought the music sounded great....though the set-list is getting a little old. he dumped "Billy Budd" which we heard at the Welmont (a much better show) and added the average at best, "Last Night I spoke to Carol". Matt Walker at one point had trouble starting one song (Maybe he forgot the set order) and then the aborted encore when Boz's guitar was dead kind of made the night a bit of a downer. He played for about 90 minutes and add another little bit if "First of the Gang to Die" would have gone on without a hitch. I liked the venue....thought they sounded great....most of the crowd up top was lame.....but I wish Moz would change the setlist up a bit. I love multiple shows......but moving around 2-3 songs would make things a little more interesting. Overall I am glad I went and had a good time. I hope things are crisper tonight in Boston.....
