No, the worst-looking Morrissey band was the "bro" line-up circa Years of Refusal, with the muscular Walker brothers, Mikey Farrell (anyone who's a Mikey into their adulthood is a bro to be avoided), and meat-gobbling Boorer as the outlying fatty. When they posed for that "look at us naked" photo it was like an ill omen of all the Red Hot Chili Peppers who would eventually play on Bonfire of Teenagers. Fortunately only Tobias remains, and he has a nice Aztec profile. I think Camila Gray has a somber, witchy, Mediterranean vibe (look at those shades and that dangling jewelry in the picture with baldy) which in her stage placement is a nice counterbalance to sleeves-rolled-up Tobias, whose aura Morrissey has likened to a panther's. A professional photo session of the full sextet is definitely in order.

I would be cautious of criticizing the addition of the women. The only other person here who seems not to like the looks of this band is poor old Johnnie Ray, and he is on record as being conflicted about sexuality and aesthetics as relates to Morrissey. I believe he's got "issues," as they say.

I'll be fifty-one next month; how old do I have to get? Time, no friend of mine, has taken my hair. I actually look not unlike baldy in the above pictures with the two ladies (boring pasty middle-aged white men with shaved heads all end up looking like Powder to varying degrees. Be thankful I don't use a personal pic in my avatar). My eyesight is getting progressively worse, which is to say "even more blind without my glasses than before," and I suspect my prostate is swelling because I have difficulty urinating when I wake up at night or in the morning. But at least I'm not fat.

Heroic anger is rare and I appreciate the care shown here. Morrissey tends to cut to the chase. Stop the killing now. Stop the abuse now. Forget about talking through all the angles first, but make safe whatever people or animals are in question. Like a miracle, for them. Maybe we can get him on other sides yet.
