In France you still have substantial chunks of the population with very different views instead of the current trend to British homogenisation, where only one view is allowed.

Living in France, I experienced far more real diversity of opinion and toleration for views ranging from deeply traditional, religious, nationalist to socialist, communist etc.

By contrast my years of living in Britain (18 in all, though I'm in Ireland now) have shown me a trend, whereby opinion seems increasingly restricted to a so-called "progressive" option.

It sounds as if Nerak, having lived in France, may have had a similar experience to mine.

And that may be why Nerak understands the French would be able to hear Morrissey without reacting. The country is so very, very different.

Simply HEAR the man, for God's sake ...
