Some random thoughts.
It is wholly reasonable for those who have RAH tickets to want the gig to go ahead. Some may never have seen him, some will want their regular fix, and some will be there hoping for a "car crash".
Those that say "it can't have been as bad as all that for him to decide to play", are deluding themselves. Prior to Brum this tour has been riddled with cancellations, they have not been caused by food poisoning or feeling faint.
No credible reason was given for the slew of earlier cancellations, nor any reassurance given that all was now well.
At Brum he looked overweight, unfit and ill at ease. His voice gave out after an hour, and the set was cut short. You should not start a tour like that. Again, no credible reason for the Swindon collapse has been given, nor reassurance that all is now well.
I thought that the setlist at Brum did not work. Nor did he attempt to make the best of one of the finest acoustic venues in the World. I just wnder what the pressures on him are at the moment?
He is not getting rich from album sales at the moment, touring is where the money is. I have never doubted Moza's artistic integrity, and his commitment to play places like Hartlepool and Gt Yarmouth last time around shows he has not lost touch with his fans.
But I do suspect that the gruelling nature of the schedule of this touring cycle and his bloody minded commitment to stick to it is driven by money. And for what? The "swords" set list is going to please the faithful, not win the unconverted.
The reaction to the next few shows wil tell us more.
